In addition to completing a radiology program, you may need to get licensed through the state of Kentucky’s radiation safety department. In Kentucky, this licensing authority is within the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services. To become a licensed radiology professional in Kentucky, you will need to meet their prerequisites which include completing an accredited radiology program, and holding a valid certificate from the ARRT or one of the other certification boards such as the ARDMS for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or the NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine Technologists.
Kentucky also allows you to obtain a temporary license to practice if you are waiting to take the ARRT exam and have already completed the required radiology curriculum.
